When will you receive your refund? The answer depends on how you filed your return and whether or not you chose to have your refund directly deposited into your bank account.
If you electronically file your tax return and if you choose to have your refund directly deposited into your bank account, your refund should be issued within one to two weeks. If you electronically file your tax return but choose to have the IRS mail your refund check, it should be mailed within two to three weeks of filing.
If you file a paper return without direct deposit, the IRS should issue your refund check within six to eight weeks of receiving your paper return. If you file a paper return and chose to receive your refund through direct deposit, you should receive it within one to two weeks of when the IRS received your return.
